InnoPath’s Enterprise Device Management (EDM) solution permits wireless operators to offer complete lifecycle management for enterprises and SMBs outsourcing their mobile device management. These customers may now take advantage of device management services offered by their network operator, in many cases extending and enhancing their existing managed network service relationships, and permitting them to focus on their core business.

InnoPath’s solution is operator-hosted, freeing the enterprise or SMB from having to invest in an in-house EDM solution. In fact, this hosted model may closely align with an SMB’s business model where most IT functions such as email are hosted. Alternatively, the enterprise may call upon the operator to deploy the MDM platform ‘inside’ the firewall. This deployment model may leverage an existing professional services relationship between the enterprise and the operator.

InnoPath’s EDM solution provides operators with a rich set of configuration, security, and application management capabilities, ultimately reducing support costs while providing control over corporate security and data access policies. It supports secure delegated authority (multi-tenancy) permitting IT departments to manage their own subscribers, and includes both a powerful workflow designer as well as open interfaces that permit the operator to quickly adapt the platform to the needs of their customers. This ‘outside the firewall’ solution also includes the necessary interfaces into the enterprise’s directory systems. InnoPath’s unique CARE portal permits the IT department to offer a self-help interface to the enterprise’s or SMB’s mobile workers.

InnoPath’s EDM solution for the first time offers operators a standards-based solution based on OMA-DM. It avoids single vendor lock-in and insures best-in-class technology through the combined efforts of the open mobile community. Application management leverages the new OMA-DM Software Component Management Object (SCoMO) standard, and is critical to enabling over-the-air lifecycle management of Windows Mobile, Symbian, Linux, and other Open OS based devices. InnoPath solution permits the operator to deploy a single platform for consumer and enterprise device management, optimizing costs and reducing time-to-market.

InnoPath’s unique post-load Open OS client adds rich EDM functionality to handsets in the hands of subscribers. Fully OMA-DM compliant, it permits the operator to enhance the client on the device as required as services and standards evolve, and supports both handsets supplied by the enterprise as well as user-purchased handsets that must be supported as part of the EDM deployment.
